HoloMapper supports Linux/SteamOS through Steam and is designed around the practical “editor on one screen, clean projection on another” workflow. Current features include mesh warping, Bezier curves, quads/circles/lines/custom shapes, text, images, video, GIFs, animation presets, snapping, layer management, and NDI/Spout input/output.

3. Splash — best for immersive multi-projector spaces
Splash describes itself as an immersive video-mapping engine. It focuses on projector calibration, field of view, optical shift, projection blending, color, and mapping video onto spaces defined by a 3D model. A Flatpak is available for Linux.
That makes Splash a different class of tool from HoloMapper or MapMap. If you are building a room-scale immersive environment with several projectors, semi-automatic calibration and blending are more important than a lightweight surface editor. If you are mapping a prop or one wall, a focused desktop mapper is much simpler.
Linux projector setup checklist
- Connect the projector and make sure your desktop environment detects it as a second display.
- Choose Extend rather than mirror/clone.
- Set a stable native or known-good resolution and refresh rate.
- Keep display scaling consistent where possible; fractional scaling can complicate coordinate assumptions in some apps.
- Disable screen blanking and automatic suspend during shows.
- Test the exact GPU driver and display server configuration before arriving on site.
Projection mapping with a Steam Deck
